Saraceno's scoreboard: Week 16 NFL picks

USA TODAY NFL writer Jon Saraceno offers up his game-by-game outlook every week in The Huddle:

Last week: 8-8 straight up (143-81 overall); 8-8 ATS (107-111-6 overall).

STAFF PICKS: ?Predictions from USA TODAY's experts

Colts (+6.5) at Texans: Can suddenly frisky (!) Indianapolis win back-to-back games? With playoffs looming, does Houston dare lose to worst team in pro football after being humbled in their house a week earlier? Does Santa use Just For Men? Trends: Texans 9-4 ATS last 13 games; Colts 2-5 ATS last seven games vs. Texans. Texans 30-10

Raiders (+1) at Chiefs: K.C. wants to win for interim head coach/nice guy Romeo Crennel. Struggling Raid-uhs want this one more for late owner Al Davis. Trend: Raiders 5-2 ATS last seven road games. Raiders 24-23

Broncos (-3) at Bills: Tim Tebow finds redemption with Bills' secondary. Trend: Broncos 6-1 ATS on the road. Broncos 31-17

Jaguars (+7.5) at Titans: Suitably humiliated with loss to lowly Colts, Tennessee gears up for a long-shot chance at playoff berth. Trend: Titans 4-2 ATS last six games. Titans 27-13

Cardinals (+4.5) at Bengals: Just wondering -- why is Arizona (one of the hottest teams in the NFL) -- a 'dog against one of the coldest? Trends: Arizona 6-1 SU last seven games; Cincinnati 1-5 ATS last six games. Bengals 20-13

Dolphins (+10) at Patriots: Miami's double-celebration last week (end of Packers' perfect season coupled with their own victory) comes to frosty halt in Foxborough. Trends: Dolphins 7-1 ATS last eight games; Patriots 1-3-1 ATS last five home games. Patriots 38-20

Browns (+13.5) at Ravens: Lewis & Suggs play Grinch and apply law & order against overmatched Cleveland offense. Trend: Browns 5-1 ATS last six road games. Ravens: 31-10

Giants (+3) at Jets: Who is more desperate, Jints or J-E-T-S? A more pertinent query: Which team has the better quarterback? Trend: Giants, Jets 2-4 ATS last six games. Giants 24-20

Vikings (+6) at Redskins: Another lump of coal for Vikes. Trends: Minnesota 0-6 SU last six games; Washington 4-1 ATS last five games. Redskins 23-14

Buccaneers (+7) at Panthers: Carolina rookie QB Cam Newton enjoys Christmas Eve at home. Trend: Bucs 2-8 ATS last 10 games. Panthers 38-17

Rams (+14) at Steelers: Big Ben or not, a St. Louis victory in Pittsburgh would be like Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo finding a partridge in a pear tree. Trend: Rams 3-11 ATS this season. Steelers 30-6

Chargers (+2.5) at Lions: Once again, desperate Bolts surge like 10,000 volts of electricity near season's end. Can Chargers keep juice flowing against a highly physical team on the road? Trend: San Diego 3-0 ATS last three games; Detroit 1-4-1 ATS last six. Chargers 30-27

49ers (-5.5) at Seahawks: This is not the same dreadful 2-6 Seattle team from the season's midpoint. Nevertheless, as San Francisco Chronicle columnist Scott Ostler aptly points out, it's time to "turn out the lights, the party's just starting'' for 49ers, 11-3 after beating the Steelers. Trend: Seahawks 6-1 ATS last seven games. 49ers 20-17

Eagles (+3) at Cowboys: Philly closing fast, but is it too little too late in what essentially is a playoff game? Notable: Dallas has not beaten a team with a winning record since September. Trend: Cowboys 3-0 ATS vs. Eagles last three home games. Cowboys 30-28

Bears (+13) at Packers: Anything but a silent night for Green Bay's embarrassed offense. Trend: Packers 6-2 ATS vs. Bears last eight games. Packers 35-13

Falcons (+7) at Saints: Atlanta coach Mike Smith insists his heart is fine after repeated visits to the doctor. No telling what his head will feel like after this one in Mardi Gras-like atmosphere. Trend: Saints 6-0 ATS last six games. Saints 31-23

Celebrity pick of the week: Actor Ron Perlman of Sons of Anarchy. Cowboys 38-27
