Find Your Family Tree ? Discover Yourself

?Are you going to find your family tree? was a query I?ve been asked more often than once. Social History has always been an interest of mine and it looked like a logical way to explore it, although it was something I had intended to do one day in the far off future when I retire. I also knew that once I started it might become an all consuming hobby because that is the way I generally am. Things altered a little in the family and we decided that this was time to make a start while we could still access the memories of elderly family and relatives. There had been a family puzzle that lots of relations had an interest in resolving and the simple way to do that was to research the family tree. It?s an straightforward process to start, there are lots of online resources to help find your family tree. In my case there has been an added bonus that was totally unexpected ?finding myself.

The more folk I talk to about family history, the more I find that this is correct. One thing you can be completely certain about is that you will find mysteries and maybe even solve one or two of them. You?ll find Black Sheep, Saints, Sinners and Heroes scattered around the branches of your family tree and every one of them will have their own unique charm. You?ll also find a lot of surprises, in my case a brother and sister that I didn?t know I had, which shook my perceptions of my family to the core and made me re-appraise much of what I thought about them and about myself. Viewing yourself as the ?eldest ? is very different to viewing yourself as ?the youngest but one ?!

There are things far less obvious than those which can sometimes be explained simply by genetics, for instance I?ve always been a Needlewoman. I?ve a strong creative drive which shows itself by needlework, embroidery, lacemaking and such like, but I never knew where it came from. My Mother may actually about know one end of a needle from the other, but I would not bet on it so I was always at a complete loss to find out why thread and fabric were so important to me. Knowing hardly any of my paternal family I was astonished to discover that my family tree on that side was populated by generations of women who were Seamstresses and Tailoresses. It gave me a feeling of belonging that I had never experienced before, and had never anticipated.

Both these things were deeply personal to me, and when you find your family tree, no doubt you will find things that may affect you in the same way and it has a great effect on how you view the events of history. War is a frightful thing and I have been lucky that it has never touched me personally but that changed lately. The killings of the first World War has always caused me unhappiness but it was really impersonal, simply a moral duty. A couple of months ago I became aware that 2 remote cousins, brothers from a little hamlet in the countryside of Suffolk died in the mud of Flanders, and another cousin died on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. ? he was only 19. It quickly became very personal for me, even writing this I have tears in my eyes for the loss their family, my family, suffered. It has all of a sudden become dreadfully personal.

These are just a few examples demonstrating how the journey to find your family tree can change you and help you to discover things about yourself you never knew. For me it?s been a positive experience as it has for the majority of the people I know. Have I discovered the puzzle that set us off on this journey ? not yet , but I?m still working on it!

Internet marketing list building basics

So you have finally decided that internet marketing will supplement the income you receive from your regular line of employment.

Internet marketing list building basics your-seo-marketing-help Internet marketing list building basics bulb man57From: ?.the desktop of? Denis R. O?Callaghan
?.your Aussie Entrepreneur

?Unquestionably something you start with the hope of producing a full time living from via the internet. Or else you have sadly been retrenched and can?t find another job after several weeks.

Apart from, and seperate to any of the above reasons, you are also ensnared in the hype and are beginning to believe that you might become a guru millionaire by starting an online business enterprise. You have read all about it and so start with some? basic steps you have been told you need to take to succeed.

Actually, you would probably start with a blog, because that?s what most web marketers are suggesting should be your first task. You are now spending your time writing content because that is the other piece of advice you find most commonly taught.

However, what? few mention is that if you are going to run your blog as being a business venture, there are several critical principles to adhere to. One of the most sensible ideas, is that you?ll want to approach your blog from a business perspective right from day one.

Exactly what is a list?

The number one chore for any internet marketer, should first and foremost be list building! You won?t have much of a? business without the customers, and you need to obtain customers or at the very least potential customers from the start. Guess what comes next? You?re absolutely right ?List Building? guys.

You have to develop a customer list if you are going to become a serious internet marketer . These list consist of people who you have told a little about yourself and your niche, or topic and that have shown a similar interest. More than that, it is a list of people who are ready and willing to receive email news from you, and grant you permission to send mail. This is commonly known as an opt-in list.

Why should you build a list?

I reiterate, as a business person on the rise, you need a customer list. Please keep in mind that for internet marketing you need a list. A list of potential customerst who have given consented to let you? email them. That permission enables you to offer your list information on services and or products that may be of interest to them, and freebies too of course.

So owning a viable list can make your internet marketing a lot easier for you. Then perhaps you could speak on a one to one basis, to folks who share the same interests as your niche subject that you have chosen, that I can assure you is when the momentum will pick up guys.

Your list is what will make you money, because an extensive list is worth a lot more than a ton off traffic to your page or blog or website, that?s for certain.

What do I think is the best time to build a list?

The moment after you have gathered in, and prepared your topic and relevant keywords are all ready. Remember to always Include this marketing activity in your very first piece of content which you have available to go online.

And the easy part is you don?t even need a blog to be able to do this. You can construct a Squidoo page, a hub page or perhaps even just submit the initial article to an article directory. Never venture online without first working a call for opt-ins into your offerings.

?The fundamental business principle that you need to strictly adhere to, if you want to make money as an internet marketer, is list building.? Good luck guys!? [zcmail]

Looking for rp partners.

The title says it all.

If you're interested let me know. I don't know much about pop culture so things like anime and anything twighlight-ish (is that even a word? It is now!) is well beyond me.

I consider myself a good writter and will work around anyone. Play by post is great so is live chat rp but please if you're going to do play-by- post one post every other day at the least is appreciated and if you can't make it all I ask is that you let me know.

For live chat rp be there regular that's all I'm asking really. We can work out time zones via pm if you like.

For both I'll work with anything as long as it's a collaborative thing.

If you get bored just tell me honestly that's all I want.
I'll work with you as best I can.

Most of all let's have some fun.

If any of this sounds appealing send me a pm.

Thanks and later

Review: Razer Mamba Wireless Gaming Mouse -Destructoid

If Razer is good at one thing, it's selling a product.

"The Razer Mamba features gaming grade wireless technology with a hybrid system that enables instant wired/wireless functionality," preens the company. "Coupled with an industry leading 1ms polling rate, it is the fastest performing mouse both on and off the cord. Delivering true wireless freedom, lag-free speed and ergonomic comfort, the Razer Mamba is in a league of its own."

Sometimes it's worth buying Razer products just to experience the artistic heights of the marketing spiel. However, we review products, not PR, so keep reading for a look at the Razer Mamba!

Razer Mamba Wireless Gaming Mouse?
Manufacturer: Razer
Released: June 2011
MSRP: $129.99

The Razer Mamba is typical of all Razer products in terms of overall design. Predominantly black, with impressive lighting, designed almost entirely to show off to anybody visiting your computer room. The lights of the Mamba are fully customizable -- with over 16 million colors to choose from, both the charging dock and the mouse will radiate any pigment you can think of. You can even have it automatically scroll through the spectrum if you're?indecisive.?

The Mamba feels comfortable in the hand, although I find the forward and back buttons are placed a bit too much toward the front. The traditional "forward" button is a bit of a stretch to reach, and that's coming from someone with pretty large hands. This is a minor issue, however, and otherwise the mouse is sleek and feels good to use, with a perfect sense of weight without being too heavy. The only other issue is that the scrollwheel can feel a little overzealous and unwieldy at times, suddenly jumping you down half a page at a whim.

The Mamba features your usual scrollwheel, left and right buttons, a forward and back button, and two extra buttons at the top, situation next to the left clicker. Those looking for a mouse full of buttons to help their MMO endeavors will likely not find what they're looking for here, but Razer very much has more action-oriented gamers in mind with this product.

You can use the Mamba as both a wired or wireless peripheral, using a USB cord that can go either to the charger or the mouse itself. Battery life when wireless is pretty good for the most part, although it sometimes has a tendency to die without warning, even with two bars still lit on the battery meter. Most of the time, however, I can get through an entire twelve-hour working day at Destructoid without having any issues. If the mouse does die, it's a snap to yank the cord from the charge base and stick it in the Mamba. Just make sure the mouse is turned off whenever you're charging, as it takes forever otherwise.?

In order to make full use of the mouse, one must download and install the Razer Mamba "Synapse" program. This includes everything you need to customize the mouse, and it is absolutely crucial, because you're going to be spending a LOT of time tinkering with the?sensitivity.?

The Mamba uses 4G dual sensor technology and boasts the most precision of any gaming mouse on the market. The only problem with this is the fact that there is such a thing as too sensitive, and the ability to attain a DPI count of 6400 is absolutely ridiculous. As soon as I installed the mouse, I quickly realized it was too sensitive for any sensible use, be it for gaming or otherwise. The usual problems one gets with laser mice -- most notably a spectral pointer that travels around the screen of its own free will -- are exacerbated to almost farcical degrees. No matter what type of surface you get the mouse working on, it will take a lot of fiddling to get it to work right.?

Fortunately, it can be done after much experimentation. It might require even going into Windows' control panel and setting the pointer sensitivity lower, but it's doable. After much messing about, I was able to find a very pleasant balance between speed and accuracy (although the pointer still goes crazy the moment I decide to play any Nine Inch Nails). ?

You can store more than five profiles on the Mamba, which should be more than enough. I currently have three -- one for work, one for drawing MS Paint pictures of genitals (seriously), and one for gaming. Even when gaming, I found that the mouse's highest DPI capabilities were too much, but this will purely be a preference thing. The sheer scope of what this mouse can achieve in terms of sensitivity means that anybody will find a perfect setting. It might take them a while to find it, of course.?

As well as sensitivity, users can?calibrate?the mouse to a preferred surface, as well as determine the cut-off height, allowing you to choose how far the mouse is lifted from your desk before the computer stops registering it. As someone who doesn't really pick up his mouse when gaming, I didn't find much stock in it, but this is surely a boon to those that have very wide motions while playing.

When used for gaming, I've found the Mamba far more customizable, elegant and comfortable than my previous choices to date. After much experimentation, I've found a level of sensitivity that's damn near perfect, whether I'm playing a first-person-shooter, role-playing game or puzzler, and have a huge amount of options to further tailor my preferences to specific titles with more profiles. I can even enable on-the-fly sensitivity changes by mapping them to the two buttons situation atop the mouse, should I choose to do so (I prefer to use those for quick profile changes, personally).?

As with all Razer products, the?choice?as to whether or not this deserves a purchase comes down to mainly how much you want to show off. The Mamba is an impressive piece of technology, but it's also expensive and its much-lauded sensitivity features a range so wide that many gamers won't even need to make use of it. However, it is stylish, visually eye-catching, and has the kind of capabilities that some gamers will happily pay simply to boast about.?

It is most certainly a luxury item. It's one I'm personally really happy to have, but it's one I'd recommend only to those who are particularly flushed with cash and really feel like treating themselves. If that's you, then you'll most likely be thrilled with the purchase. Those who just want a solid gaming mouse and aren't fussed about huge amounts of customization or aesthetic frills will likely not get the most out of a purchase this?extravagant.?

Use Student Loans To Finance Your College Dreams

The job market today is more competitive than it has ever been. In the past, you could sometimes work yourself into a good paying job without a degree, but it is much more difficult to do that these days. The problem is that college is also expensive. There are not a lot of people who get through four or more years of college without ending up with a few student loans. The good thing is that a federal direct student loan gives people access to college who may not have been able to afford it. You are probably eligible to apply for a student loan for every year that you to go school, but you will have to get a new one for each semester. Each of these loans is separate.

The great part about using a student loan is that you do not have to start making payments on the loan until after you graduate. In fact, in most cases you do not have to start the repayment process until six months after you graduate. This grace period also applies if you decide to leave school before you obtain a degree. The thought behind this grace period is that it gives you enough time to get out of school, find your first job and get settled into your new post-college life.

In most cases, there are hardship clauses in case something happens to your ability to pay back the loan. Under certain circumstances, the repayment process can be delayed. However, you have to make sure that you get this approved before you stop making payments on your loans. One reason that your repayments could be delayed is if you decide to go back to school. If you become a full-time student after you initially left and started making payments, your future payments would again be delayed until you are out of school again.

There are also different types of student loans that can be taken out by people other than the student who is attending college. You parents or grandparents may decide to take out their own loan to keep you from being saddled with loans when you finish school. They will obtain the same low interest rate that you would have as long as the loan is used for your education. If you are like most people, you will probably end up with several different loans that you have to keep track of. However, you will have the option when you get out of college to consolidate these loans.

If you really want to go to college and get education at a higher level, but cannot afford it, a student loan may be an option for you. It allows you to get help to fund your college education, does not make you make payments on the loan until after you graduate and gives you the lowest interest rate you will probably ever get on a loan. Before you give up on your dreams of a college degree, make sure you look into all the options you have to get student loans.

Japan's tech companies face weak TV demand, keep forecasts (Reuters)

TOKYO (Reuters) ? Japan's top consumer electronic firms recovered faster than expected from March's earthquake, allowing most of them to maintain full-year profit forecasts despite a weakening TV market and concerns about the outlook for the global economy.

Video game maker Nintendo Co was a standout disappointment as it unexpectedly swung to a quarterly operating loss, hit by sluggish sales of its 3DS handheld game player and a strong yen. It also slashed its full-year forecast to far below market expectations.

Sony Corp and Panasonic Corp warned of weak TV sales, following Philips and Corning Inc in highlighting sluggish demand.

Global consumer confidence fell in the second quarter to its lowest level in 18 months as an uncertain economic outlook, a deepening euro zone debt crisis and rising inflation made people cautious, a Nielsen survey showed.

"Sony, Panasonic and many other Japanese tech firms are still hoping they can swing to profits in the rest of the calendar year," Said Derek Lin, manager of the Asia-Pacific Fund of Uni-President Asset Management in Taipei. "The worst of their stock price declines is over, but how far they can come back up depends on demand from U.S. and European markets."

Over the past several years, Japanese companies have increasingly lost market share in televisions, flat screens and chips to South Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics and LG Display, partly helped by heavy investments and faster execution under family controlled groups.

Most Japanese electronics conglomerates have forecast earnings for the year to March 2012 to stay flat or show a small decline from a year ago, underscoring a strong comeback from the disaster-related production difficulties in Japan.

However, doubts about the prospects for the rest of the year are creeping due to the yen's renewed rise against the dollar and the euro, which has been fueled by jitters about government debt.

WEAK LCD TVS

Sony, the maker of Bravia TVs and PlayStation game consoles slashed its annual forecast for LCD TVs to 22 million sets from 27 million. Only a better-than-anticipated performance by other units including digital cameras kept the company from cutting its profit outlook.

"The LCD market itself is becoming weaker, so it is not that surprising that it had to reduce its LCD television sales forecast," said Shigeo Sugawara, senior investment manager at Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Asset Management. "What it plans to do with this division is vital," he said.

At a news conference in Tokyo, Panasonic's chief financial officer, Makoto Uenoyama, said the company may not stick to its annual flat-panel TV sales forecast of 25 million units.

The first quarter post quake slump at Panasonic Corp and Sharp Corp was precipitous, but they too beat analysts' consensus estimates and also stuck with estimates made in the wake of a disaster that closed their factories as parts ran out.

Quarterly operating profit at Sony fell 59 percent to 27.5 billion almost double what analysts polled by Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S forecast. Panasonic's April-June profit fell to 27.5 billion yen from 67.0 billion yen compared with market estimates of 15.2 billion yen.

Sharp's operating profit was a meager 3.5 billion yen, but that was versus market expectations of a loss of 8.2 billion yen.

Shares in most Japanese technology companies were pummeled by the quake.

Sony left its full-year operating profit outlook unchanged at 200 billion yen, flat on the previous year. Panasonic stuck with 270 billion yen and Sharp kept its 97 billion yen target unchanged.

Toshiba Corp, the world's No.2 maker of flash memory chips, said quarterly operating profit fell 88 percent as the earthquake hit its power operations and a strong yen bit into earnings, and it kept its annual forecast in line with expectations.

Alexander Skarsgard & Kate Bosworth Split

Another Hollywood couple bites the dust. Alexander Skarsgard and Kate Bosworth have called it quits, sigh. It turns out that hottie Skarsgard and Bosworth actually split up awhile ago. Us Weekly is reporting that the break up was very mutual, that is via a source the magazine claims to have. Alexander was seen over the weekend at the Film District Bash at Comic-Con flirting with a brunette, which again according to U.S. Weekly?s source it was ok because Skarsgard is single. No word from either one of their reps on the breakup but since these two were a very private couple that is not a big surprise. The former couple was together for two years before they decided to go their separate ways. I will be the first to admit I did a little happy dance when I found out that the hunky True Blood actor was back on the market and ready for the taking. Yes I did mean to say that and exactly that way. However although I like I am sure many other ladies and probably some gents too are very excited about this news as well. We must remember though that a relationship did just end [...]

Cannabis Oil Fights Cancer - Santa Cruz, CA Patch

A number of recent studies have confirmed the cancer-fighting, tumor-shrinking value of medical marijuana.?

Although the first study to demonstrate that cannabis has anti-carcinogenic properties was done? back in 1974 by the U.S. National Institute of Health, more recent studies, which began abroad in 1999, have shown that cannabis can effectively and safely treat many forms of cancer.?

Since 1999, there have now been a number of studies that clearly demonstrate that cannabis has the ability to effectively shrink tumors, kill cancer cells, and safely treat many aggressive forms of cancer, including brain, breast, skin, prostate, and lung cancer.?

However, due to the political controversy that surrounds medical marijuana, some physicians still remain unaware of these valuable studies, and mistakenly believe the misguided government reports that cannabis actually causes cancer. In some cases, it may be important to educate your doctor about the important research discussed in this column.

A study done at UCLA in 2006 showed that not only does smoking marijuana not cause lung cancer, as had been previously thought, but that smoking cannabis actually protects the lungs from cancer. The study followed four groups of subjects: nonsmokers, cannabis-only smokers, tobacco-only smokers, and cannabis and tobacco smokers.?

The results showed that nonsmokers and cannabis-only smokers had the same amount of lung cancer, and that tobacco-only smokers had the highest rate of lung cancer. Those subjects that smoked both cannabis and tobacco had significantly less lung cancer than those who just smoked tobacco. In other words, smoking cannabis actually had a protective effect on the tobacco smokers? lungs.

Recent talks by medical marijuana expert Valerie Corral at the Santa Cruz Wo/Men?s Alliance for Medical Marijuana (WAMM) meetings have focused on the valuable medical properties of highly-refined, therapeutic cannabis oil, which may be the most powerful cancer-fighting agent that has been developed from the cannabis plant to date.

Cannabis oil, also commonly known as ?golden oil? or ?honey oil,? is a concentrated extract from the cannabis plant that is highly refined and chemically standardized, so that the amount of bioactive components (known as ?cannabinoids?) in the oil are of a consistent strength. The clear-golden oil is a resinous matrix of cannabinoids, which is similar to dark-colored hash oil, only more distilled and much more potent.

Rick Simpson, founder of Phoenix Tears, an organization which studies and promotes the medical use of cannabis oil, has become a leading spokesperson for the medicinal value of cannabis oil, after effectively treating himself with the oil to help heal from a serious head injury in 1997. For years, Simpson has been supplying the valuable oil to medical marijuana patients free of charge. According to Simpson, many of the cancer patients who have used his oil were cured or vastly improved, and that many other illnesses have been effectively treated with the oil as well.

Although the medical establishment and the mainstream media have largely ignored the evidence that cannabis oil has powerful cancer-fighting properties, it appears that this silence is beginning to end as more and more people are discovering the truth about this forbidden medicine.

For example, according to ABC News, a father in Montana, Mike Hyde, claims that cannabis oil helped to cure his two-year-old son of a stage 4, malignant brain tumor on his optic nerve. Hyde said that he secretly slipped cannabis oil into his son Cash?s feeding tube out of desperation, after the boy?s chemotherapy treatments were making him too sick to eat. According to ABC News, Cash, who is now 3 years old, has made ?a miraculous recovery.?

Spanish researcher Manuel Guzman has done a whole series of studies since 1999 demonstrating the efficacy of cannabinoids to fight cancer. Studies have demonstrated that (isolated chemical components of cannabis), such as THC (tetrahydrocannibinal) and CBD (cannabidiol), can? shrink tumors, and some reports suggest that the whole plant extracts are more effective than the isolated cannabinoids.

There is evidence that not only do some cannabinoids kill cancer cells, they cause healthy new cell growth in the brain--a process known as ?neurogenesis?--and that the cannabinoids may have a protective effect on the nervous system as well.

WAMM is currently working with physicians and biochemists to develop the use of this enchanted oil further. Cannabis oil is extremely nontoxic, and unlike every pharmaceutical drug that is approved to treat cancer, there are no serious health risks associated with using it. In all of human history, no one has ever died from a cannabis overdose. It is arguably the safest, therapeutically-active drug known.?

Cannabis oil can be vaporized, orally ingested with other oils, or used topically. Oral ingestion will produce the strongest effects, and would likely be the most effective for serious medical conditions.

And yes, the oil is also quite psychoactive. It can make you very high, and it can even bring on a full-blown psychedelic experience.? I think that this (often-sought and sometimes-criticized) aspect of the healing herb?s effects should not be disregarded, trivialized, ridiculed, or (Heaven forbid) removed. I suspect that that the well-known mental effects--an improved mood and transcendent perspective--are vital aspects of the healing mind/body magic that cannabis can provide.

Amy Winehouse Dead at 27; Found in London Home, Overdose Suspected

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment in London today.

Multiple sources confirm that the singer is the woman in this press release from the Metropolitan Police, which doesn't specifically name her:

"Police were called by Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 just before 16 hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman deceased."

Lucid Wino

"On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death."

"At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

Amy Winehouse famously battled serious addiction to hard drugs and alcohol and was in and out of rehab several times throughout the years.

Winehouse shot to fame with the 2006 album Back to Black, whose blend of jazz, soul, rock and classic pop won five Grammys and made her a star.

Unfortunately, a turbulent marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil and overall self-destructive habits overshadowed her distinctive talent in the years since.

Tabloids and the public became riveted by her erratic stage appearances, drunken fights, stints in hospital and rehab clinics, her performances increasingly rambling, stumbling train wrecks - and cause for concern.

Just last month, Winehouse canceled her upcoming European tour after an awful performance in Serbia where she seemed completely out of it.

Sadly, this story is almost shocking because it is not shocking.

Her talent will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace.

UPDATE: There were no signs of foul play in the death of Winehouse, Scotland Yard reports. It is still too early to determine cause of death.

An autopsy has been scheduled for tomorrow.

UPDATE #2: Sources connected with the investigation say paramedics found "signs of life" when they arrived at Winehouse's home this afternoon, but the singer died before they could transport her out of there.

The exact nature of the "signs of life" are unclear.

According to reports, police are "operating under the suspicion" this an overdose, although they will not say on the record until the autopsy.

Superintendent Raj Kohli said, "Next of kin have been informed, and I can confirm that officers are now satisfied the deceased is [Amy]."

As for the cause of death, and the (fair) speculation from the public that Winehouse may have OD'ed, Kohli said the following:

"I am aware of reports suggesting this is the result of a suspected drugs overdose, but I would like to re-emphasize that no post-mortem examination has yet taken place and it would be inappropriate to speculate on the cause of death."

Celebration! 1 Year in Business! Orling&Wu | Cavern Retail Consulting

Posted on by Cathy

Orling&Wu

Last week I sat down with co-owner of Orling&Wu, Julie Wu, to talk about the successes and challenges of her First year in business.

We started talking about her decision to locate her very sophisticated, almost delicate looking store on Water Street in the heart of a somewhat gritty Gastown. Julie said that the decision was almost an unconscious one. She thought from the beginning, that Gastown would be the location?and even imagined the storefront: A black Heritage building. She did admit that she did look at all different areas of the city, but somehow knew?It just had to be Gastown.

Surprise, Surprise!

I asked Julie if there had been any surprises in her first year?good or bad. She said that the best surprise has been how much foot traffic they get! She said that almost every week, she meets more and more people who are living and working in the area?most who are just out for a lunchtime walk and are so impressed with the store, they can?t wait to tell their friends!

What to Buy?What to Buy?

I was curious how?Julie decided on her current product mix. She said that she?believes in product that has ?some meaning to life.? Both Julie and her partner Fredrik have lived and worked in Europe, and are instinctively drawn to European inspired products. They also look for?merchandise that?is beautifully designed, with an equal emphasis on quality.

Having a Retail Store is EASY!?

Last, we spoke about the challenges of the first year. Julie laughed and said that considering she works in the store with her partner?the fact that they are still together is?a HUGE challenge, and a GREAT success! She mentioned that they are in the process of hiring a new store manager, and finding and retaining?staff has been a challenge. Julie said: ?If people don?t take retail as a serious career, That?s not the kind of people we want.? Finding the right staff who are the right fit for the store and their customer?is challenging?but considering the success of their first year?I?believe that they will find someone dynamic and unconventional, just like their store.

Thanks Julie???

thejakartaherald.com ? Sports Badminton: Irish Eyes May Smile Upon ...

Indonesian shuttlers competing in next month?s World Championships may get a chance to fine-tune their game at a training camp in Northern Ireland in the lead-up to the London event.

The Indonesian Badminton Association?s (PBSI) secretary general, Yacob Rusdianto, said on Wednesday that the association was offered free accommodation and training facilities in Belfast by Badminton Ireland, but the deal had yet to be finalized.

?All this year we have had trouble finding good places for shuttlers to train and acclimatize in Europe before playing in tournaments there,? Yacob said.

?Training in Belfast will be a great preparation for the World Championships. We will first send several coaches and shuttlers to survey the facilities before deciding anything.

?We still don?t know what Badminton Ireland wants in return for their hospitality, but we warmly welcome their offer.?

London will host the championships from Aug. 8-14 at Wembley Arena, which will also be the venue for the badminton competition at next year?s Olympics.

Indonesian shuttlers are aiming to end a championship title drought dating back to 2007 in Kuala Lumpur.

They won two titles that year, with Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan lifting the men?s doubles trophy and Nova Widianto and Liliyana Natsir taking the mixed doubled.

With men?s and women?s singles in decline, double?s shuttlers will again be Indonesia?s best hope of breaking the title drought in London.

Three men?s doubles teams have qualified for the championships, including Markis and Hendra. But a repeat of 2007 is unlikely as they have struggled with knee problems and are yet to win a competition this year.

Also competing in the doubles are the pairs of Mohammad Ahsan and Bona Septano, and Alvent Yulianto Chandra and Hendra Aprida Gunawan.

?We see that, in term of quality, there?s not much difference among our men?s doubles,? said Christian Hadinata, the men?s double head coach.

Liliyana will compete in the championships for the first time with new partner Tontowi Ahmad. She and Tontowi have won three consecutive tournaments in India, Singapore and Malaysia.

Google 'winding down' Labs, likely due to meddling older sister

Google Labs, that breeding ground for the wacky, sublime, and sometimes useful experiments that Mountain View's scooter-loving employees are so fond of, is getting ready to "wind down." The software giant announced today that the experimental forum for testing out potential features is being sidelined, in order for the company to focus on bigger picture ideas. Some of the more useful experimentation for properties like Calendar and Gmail will stick around, as will the Labs experiments that eventually made their way into the Android market. Google has promised to keep us all in the loop during the transition, so perhaps we can pick up a few secondhand test tubes for our own collections.

Chris Evans: Getting in Shape for 'Captain America' Was "Brutal"

Chris Evans: Getting in Shape for 'Captain America' Was "Brutal"

Chris Evans may be easy on the eyes, but the Captain America: The First Avenger star says getting in shape for the superhero role was far from simple.

"We did two hours a day, and it was brutal. I usually like working out. Going in sucks, but walking out, you're like, 'I'm glad I did that!'" the 30-year-old actor told PopSugar. "This was different. I'd walk out and I'd be like, 'I need to vomit. I hate this trainer. I hate this movie. I want to go to sleep for a week.' It was just relentless. I've got a fast metabolism and I lose weight very quickly, so for me to get big, it was just eat a lot."

In the new film (which hits theaters July 22), Evans plays Steve Rogers, a puny military reject who undergoes an experiment that transforms him into the very buff and muscular Captain America.

But being forced to put on weight isn't as fun as it sounds for Evans.

"Working out sucked, eating sucked more," he revealed. "You get to a point where you just can't even look at another piece of chicken. You're just so bloated, but you just have to keep consuming protein, so that was tricky."

As for shedding the weight to play Captain America's alter-ego, director Joe Johnson didn't put the pressure on Evans to lose the mass he worked so hard to pack on. Instead, special effects were used to turn him back into a smaller version of himself.

"They went back and forth on the type of technology they were going to use. Initially, they were just going to do body shrinking, and then they thought, 'Well, maybe we can get another skinny actor and put Chris' head on it,' and I really, really was against that," Evans told USA Weekend. "I said to Joe, 'Look, I know we want this to look good and this effect to not be distracting from the film, but it has to be my performance. I don't want to share this. Your body is a huge piece of the acting puzzle, and I don't want to have somebody else's body tell the story that I'm trying to tell.' So they did some tweaking and they did a bunch of tests and we went back to the initial plan to shrink my body."

Previously a team player in The Fantastic Four, Evans says the pressure of being the main star of a flick almost kept him from accepting the coveted role.

"I said to someone close to me, 'I was offered this movie and I think I’m going to say no.' And she said, 'No, you’re not. You’re going to do this movie.' I said, 'Why?' And she said, 'Because you can’t live your life based on fear.' That’s a really good point: I think I’d end up having more regret if I didn’t do it because I was scared than if I did it, and whatever comes, comes. At least I wasn’t a coward."
