1665 Cafe
For the past week I?ve been discovering the city of San Carlos, an area of the Peninsula that I hadn?t had much of a chance to visit in the past. I?ve been impressed with Laurel street?s many unique restaurants, dessert shops, and boutiques. However, my favorite thing to do first thing in the morning before setting out for a day?s exploration in San Carlos is to visit 1665 Cafe. 1665 Cafe is a conveniently named coffee and sandwich shop with some huge advantages.
When I visited 1665 Cafe I was greeted by the smiling barista almost the moment I opened the door. The first thing I noticed about the cafe was the cleanliness and modern style. The dark wooden floor blended well with the polished steel tables topped with bright wood surfaces. I got the sense that the interior was substantial and a lot of thought had been put in to the design by the owner Jason Mackwood. I was happy to see there was plenty of seating so I could relax at the cafe for a moment after receiving my coffee. Beyond the clean and friendly environment the main enticement to stay and relax was the coffee and food.
1665 Cafe proudly brews Blue Bottle Coffee, a Bay Area original coffee roasting company dedicated to the highest possible standards of coffee roasting and brewing. This truly unique coffee drinking experience is only available at a few cafes in the area and would have, only a short time ago, required a drive to San Francisco or Oakland to enjoy. Now however, Blue Bottle Coffee is available right in San Carlos. In fact, you can try this luxury drip coffee experience absolutely free just for checking-in to 1665 Cafe with your Chatterfly App!
After purchasing my cup of coffee I also selected a fresh crispy pastry to enjoy along with it, but I made a mental note to return for lunch to try out one of the many deli style sandwiches available. Exploring the many great shops in San Carlos all day was bound to fuel my appetite during lunch time and why not come back to 1665 Cafe for a Sandwich and a cool Fruit Smoothie as well? or maybe an afternoon coffee pick-me-up? 1665 Cafe will be my go-to Cafe anytime I happen to be visiting San Carlos because with their Chatterfly Rewards program I earn points towards free food and drink every time I make a purchase and with coffee as delicious as this? I?ll be making a lot of purchases!
